In the burger world, it seems that traditional is fast being replaced. From American-style brioche buns stuffed with pickles, to pork-belly sliders, it's difficult to find a good, so-called traditional burger.
Here's where Paul's Burgers comes in. They're a family run business in Sylvania that is just as much part of the landscape as Tom Ugly's Bridge. The menu hasn't changed much over the decades and there's a reason why; the burgers are classic.
I've been a regular customer of Paul's for years, but I had never tried the Work's burger before. Packed to max with a beef pattie, fresh lettuce, tomato, cooked onions, a fried egg, bacon, pineapple and beetroot (an optional extra), it was a challenge to eat, but so very worth it. If I had to describe the burger in one word, it would be juicy. I wasn't a fan of the drink (mostly because I don't like pineapple), but somehow the addition of the pineapple in the burger was genius.
All in all, if you're a burger fan (and really, who isn't?), then Paul's is a non-negotiable stop the next time you venture into the Shire.
