Crystal Clear Summer

Right now, summer in Sydney is hot. I mean, baking in the oven hot.

Along with with promise of waves, salty hair and sandy feet, a new summer brings new/recycled trends. Two of my favourites this year are playsuits and crystals.

Playsuits just make perfect sense for summer because they combine the simplicity of a summer dress with the manoeuvrability of shorts. They're comfy, versatile and great for the days when it's too hot to even think about trying to find a top to wear with that new skirt you bought which doesn't go with anything but it's pretty so who cares?

You can find playsuits pretty much anywhere, from Cotton On to Marcs. There's also a ton online, especially at Asos or The Iconic. My cream, draw-string playsuit from Sabo Skirt has become a wardrobe staple, just because it's so light and easy to wear (although you do need a very specific style of underwear.)

Along with playsuits, crystal jewellery seems to have resurfaced this summer, with many fashionistas relaxing into the beachy, boho trend. I love crystals and stones to the point where I've actually relinquished the thought of a diamond engagement ring in the future! Seriously, the amount of money that could be saved is mind-boggling.

But back to the present, crystal rings have been popping up on bronzed hands all over the world. Free People and Charcoal Alley showcase some of the loveliest crystals on Instagram, and Mociun in New York sells lots of absolutely beautiful gemstone and crystal pieces.

If you're on a budget, I'd highly recommend looking for crystals at markets, like Rozelle, Glebe and Bondi in Sydney. Prices will vary, but there's a high chance of snagging a gorgeous stone that won't break the bank.
