I've driven past Foveaux many times, but always forgotten to go back to it. From the outside, the store looks like a cross between Vinnies and a discount vintage store, with two mannequins dressed in intriguing, slightly questionable outfits. But today, as I was walking past, I dragged my friend inside and to our delight, we found racks full of some of the most lovely (and also the most wonderfully untrendy) clothes. Not to mention shoes, scarves, and accessories as well.
Before we even began fawning over the bright colours and ancient materials, the owner of the store informed us that everything was a mere $10. For two thrifty young women, that sentence was like a hallelujah chorus. Suddenly, everything looked ten times better and more practical than before. Would I ever wear a candy-floss pink 1950's fit-and-flare dress with a white lace top? Hell yes. (Actually it was too big, so no. But you get my drift.)

After purchasing our clothes, we found out that Foveaux is closing in May, unless it is bought by someone else. Which is sad, because we only just discovered it. However, until then, everything will most likely remain $10. So go check it out! I'll be spreading the word.

My haul. |
I realised today that there's a type of excitement I get when trying on clothes (and then buying them), which can't quite be replicated in any other situation. Call me materialistic, but fashion is a legitimate source of my happiness. And for $30, it's more like an investment anyway.
Foveaux is located on Connells Point Road, South Hurstville, near the King Georges Rd intersection.
